Comedians, Calendars and Christmas

At home I am indulging my girls with advent calendars, the Christmas tree and decorations are up and there is a lot of what we affectionately refer to as ‘Santa chat’ during the school run.

Reception 1

At work, I am packaging and posting the exclusive Pre A Porsche 356 Calendars to send all over Europe, the United States and as far afield as Australia, while considering how to lay up and frame the Easter shoots I have booked in for the next week or two and again directly after the New Year celebrations.

Talking of celebrations, I was privileged to be joining the 50th Anniversary event at the Chewton Glen last week.  They have produced a magnificent book detailing the rise and rise of the hotel over the last 50 years and it just happens to include a fair few of my images. I have been grinning like a Cheshire cat since my first glance at it! I had my camera with me on the night with a view to being included in the 75th anniversary edition.

It seems odd, with the weather being so un-seasonally warm, to be in the process of compiling a list of which clients require ‘snow’ shots (it’s a technical term!) should the temperature drop and a few flakes make it this far South. With several requests for independent business calendars for January 2017 already in, these images will be imperative for inclusion. Photography tends to make you think a couple of months in advance, a skill set I am yet to master at home much to the disappointment of Mrs L.

After thousands of views of the ‘behind the scenes at Cliveden’ video (insert link) I produced in October, demand is high and I have to concede that this is a piece of work I am particularly proud of, and I am already excited about the contracts I have for 2016 in this genre.

Two weeks ago I was with an old friend, the comedian and satirist, Henning Wehn in London shooting for his new tour poster. Much as I love working with Henning, it is always something of a relief to capture the right image so that I can fully engage with his ingenious wit and humour rather than trying to stay focused. And people think I’m distracted!

Is it just me or is time flying past? I know I live at 100 miles an hour, but the last few weeks have been extreme even by my standards.

This may have something to do with the exclusive Pre ‘A’ Porsche 356 calendar I was invited to produce at the last minute, which is selling like the proverbial ‘hot cake’. I don’t think I ever imagined my work being in South Africa, Germany and America but that, my friends, is where the calendar is reaching. The power of the Porsche….and probably the festive season!

If you would like to join the Porsche calendar party, there are only 356 available (see what we did there?), please either Pre-Order at the reduced rate of £29.99 until 1st November, or £35.99 post this date via this Amazon link

The backdrop of the New Forest National Park and Goodwood Estate frames the cars perfectly and the A3 calendar has been produced to the very highest quality, plus each piece is individually signed by me, lucky you J. Delivery is GUARANTEED before the 10th December, just like one of the sofa adverts already on the TV!

In other news…

I have some new work for an agency in Bournemouth starting this week and I am already nearly at my wedding quota (6) for summer 2016. My landscape exhibition at Rum’s Eg in Romsey next month is coming together and I am excited about sharing my work with people who potentially only see the commercial side of what I do. You can see more about it here

I do love a link 😉

We’re on the move

So, things were a little hectic there for a moment however I am now entering a spell of strictly scheduled work and a change of location both of which I am hugely looking forward to.

Much as I am sad to be leaving The Gallery in Milford on Sea, I am beyond excited to be setting up a central Lymington office (get me!). My work is selling so quickly on line and it’s so efficient that I have expanded the capacity of my website and am uploading all my latest Landscape work as soon as it is complete. This is a really positive move for me and I will be sorry not to be in the heart of the village that has been so generous to me, however it is something I have been striving for. Being online rather than having a so-called ‘shop floor’ means I can level the cost of my work too ☺

Over the last 3 or 4 weeks I have been completing long-term contracts and having meetings with enthusiastic new clients and it would be safe to say that I feeling the love from the local area. I can’t disclose more at the present time but you can bet your life on my bending your ears sooner or later and sharing some images with you!

One thing I would just like to share with you now is this following testimonial. It is quite rare, in the current climate, for someone to have the time to write kind words about anyone, let alone a photographer! This was a project that demanded consideration and nurturing and I worked hard to ensure that I was sensitive to my surroundings.

“West Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group approached Adam to undertake some photography for an upcoming campaign. This was a high profile campaign for the NHS across Hampshire and as such we needed a photographer we could trust. We are delighted with the images Adam has created. His enthusiasm is unending and he has a real knack for bringing out the best in his models. The images that we now have for our poster and online campaign are fantastic and truly depict the emotions of the situations we are portraying. Thank you Adam for all your hard work.”

Drop me a text if you are passing by and want to know more about the photography services I offer and I’ll get the kettle on!

Love my job

Sunrise 91214- 5 small wm

Some bright spark has suggested I write a blog! I totally admire anyone that can be consistent with things of this nature, however I seem to have quite enjoyed doing this so brace yourself, (surely not more than one person will read this?) there may be another one coming soon!

One of the reasons I love my job is the diversity and breadth of the people and projects I work on week by week. After 20 years feeling stifled in an environment that didn’t really suit me, I genuinely try and get the most of the day ahead.

One minute I can have my day planned out and then receive a last minute call to a client I may have pitched to months ago who may have decided to progress a project. This often means they have decided to go ‘concept to completion’ within 24 hours! I love this scenario and the adrenalin and desire to succeed and exceed all expectations often kicks in.

I had a short notice call to Walhampton on Monday and spent a hugely enjoyable afternoon snapping in the stunning grounds. It was an interesting brief and I was delighted to be able to step in!

By contrast, today (Tuesday) is being spent in Winchester on a poster campaign for the NHS and tomorrow I am with a couple planning their wedding shots. I will also be involved in a meeting about ‘Love Milford Week’ – a project close to my heart as it is where my family live and we love this coastal town, a lot!

In amongst this I will also be in my studio editing recent shoots and, although it drives certain people nuts, getting my creative head on! I have ideas, a lot. A lot of ideas a lot of the time…

On Thursday I am really looking forward to a corporate contract with an interior design client. ‘Lifestyle’ is something we are all keen on and I find it captivating.

I am also meeting with my printer about a TOP SECRET (I was made to write that!) project for the end of the year. I am quite proud of my ability to forward plan – it only works in my studio. At home I am the King of Wing!

On Friday I am mentoring a university student. This was something that was of huge benefit to me when I was studying in the late 80s and I am pleased to be able to close the circle. We will with be the fabulous Will Rochfort, a gifted artist. His subject matter often includes cameras!

Over the weekend I aim to swerve all the calls for me to join various exercise regimes! You know who you are ☺

Shappi Khorsandi at the Milford on Sea "Comedy and Cake" night

Shappi Khorsandi at the Milford on Sea “Comedy and Cake” night

Was very lucky to have the chance to photograph the amazing comedian Shappi Khorsandi last week. She was appearing in Milford for the Comedy and Cake night. What a top lady, very accommodating with her time. Oh yeah and she was very very funny.

Milford on Sea Food week and ever clicking shutter>

“… Its Milford on Sea Food Week,” he said in a very soft and convincing tone that lead me to believe that it would be quite straight forward.

“Sure,” I said “I’ll do whatever I can.”

A week later the programme came through. One hundred and ninety two events in 7 days in a the little village of Milford on Sea. Michelin starred chefs, TV celebrities, authors, comedians and local culinary royalty. It was a bit like holding the British Grand Prix in the car park at Waitrose. So much quality squeezed into a square mile.

I managed to get to eighty two events I shot 4000 images, edit and posted online. I have attached here are just some of the photos. If you would like to see more then you can click
