Boom Shack-A-Lak – whoever coined this well-known phrase must have known what April 2017 was going to be like!

Where to start? It’s been what you might call a ‘vintage’ month, the likes of which I have never seen before. I’ve hopscotched the South Coast, made friends with the engineers on the M3 and enjoyed all the scenic routes of the Cotswolds, not entirely intentionally. Having enjoyed a warm fuzzy Condé Nast feeling last month I was knocked sideways to see one of my shots included in the New York Times. New. York. Times. Holy guacamole!

This link to my showreel https://vimeo.com/211643291 clearly demonstrates the breadth of my work over recent months and includes Chef James Martin, Walhampton, Nasty Lifestyle, Mitch Green (he’s the dude in the red), MMG, Cliveden House and behind the scenes with singer songwriter Charlie Hole whose video is being released later this year. It’s only 1 min 31 and you may spot a few other familiar faces.

LONDON CALLING;

In other news, I am delighted to announce that I have completed the documentation and secured my new London office. I have recently started work with two hotel campaigns located in the capital, The Trafalgar at St James is currently undergoing a major refurbishment with a view to launching as one of London’s coolest venues and 11 Cadogan Square which is now under a new management structure. With more in the pipeline it seemed perfect timing to ‘divide and conquer’. I just don’t have the hours available to spend in limbo and while I can make calls and write emails on public transport to an extent, I can’t edit work.

While we’re on news, I have a trip to Berlin booked in June which follows the completion of a ‘Top Secret’ project I did at Abbey Road Studios last year. I’ll be heading off to work with well-known composer and producer Craig Leon (The Ramones, Debbie Harry, Talking Heads and Pavarotti). I can’t reveal anymore for now – taps nose walks away mysteriously!

As there is no rain forecast for the South Coast over the next few days, perhaps even weeks I thought I would wet your appetite with this beautiful ‘sunshine in a glass’ shot taken at Cliveden. I think summer 2017 is coming at us slowly but surely.

And finally, after a search worthy of an entire BBC Drama police force series, I filed my end of year accounts.

New Beach Project

Just been working on a new project. Took this image at sunrise on a spring low tide last week. Going to print it onto a very large 1.5m x 1.0m German etching paper print. I am the  going to have the print sealed in between two pieces of glass with a clear 20 cm border around it. Then the whole image is framed with a solid black moulding. It will be big but i think it will look quite striking. hoping to have it in Coastal Gallery in Lymington, Hampshire within the next two weeks.

If you are ever passing Lymington, check out Coastal gallery. it has some very cool work in there and of course some of my work too.

Cheers

The Meadow

Gate small Meadow small

Fathers Day is upon us and my girls have really spoiled me with home made cards and presents. They mean more to me than anything that anyone could buy. Please don’t let my girls grow up too quickly.

I managed to steal some time with my youngest last week and the meadow grass just down the road from us was looking fantastic. I shot quite a few but thought I would share a couple with you.

Hope you like and thanks for all the words of support and the follows. Mean a lot

Thanks

A

Second shoot

As mentioned earlier i had two shoots yesterday. Loved them both. this one was with part of the ENS Cycling team. These guys are doing La Marmotte cycling challenge that is taking place in July ( http://www.cyclomundo.com/marmotte.html ).  Ridiculous challenge up the steepest and hardest of the touring Alpes. They are all nutters and obviously have too much time on their hands.

Took this shot at sundown last night using a single 400w flash. I wanted that dramatic high contrast effect that works so well with sportsmen and women.

Anyway, here you go.

New Shoot

Morning to all you lovelies out there in the cybersphere.

Yesterday was  a great day. two shoots, One I will post here and the other i will post later. i had a great shoot with the very charismatic Charlie Hole, singer songwriter. We shot about 400 images at a very cool new bar called the Cave in Milford on Sea, Hampshire, UK. We ended up with about 6-7 really great images. Below is what I feel best sums up the day.

Shot on my Nikon D200 through Nikkor 17-55 2.8 GED. 100 iso 1/160 at f11. Dropped the saturation out and lowered the clarity and cleaned the skin up. Really pleased with how this turned out.

Hope you like it, more to come…….

New Elinchrom d-Lite 4 softbox studio lights.

Purchased the Elinchrom d-Lite 4 yesterday. Looks like a fabulous bit of kit, really easy to put together and take down. I am currently living on You Tube with various tutorials on best lighting set ups and instruction videos. But really enjoying. I have to use it in anger on Tuesday for a shoot, but sure we will get there. Here are a couple of shots from the weekend. My wife and children, again have been my ever suffering subjects.

Bank Holiday

So, we moan every Bank Holiday in the UK that it rains!! May Bank Holiday 2013, glorious sunshine!! This so caught me out that I actually didn’t know what to do. I had a whole weekend of board games, movies and cooking lined up, that went straight out the window leaving me feeling more than a little lost.

Whats the best way of grounding yourself again. Get your camera out.

I managed to persuade my youngest Hana to sit for me. She usually either doesn’t want to or just pulls silly faces and eventually I release from the bind of “Dad with a camera.”

This time she sits, offers suggestions and gets really involved in the whole shoot. Even to the extent that she asks to take some shots of me and then directs me like an old professional.

Here they are, hope you like them.
